Chippa United welcome left-back for assessment

Having put on a job advertisement on their social media for an “exceptional left-back”, Chippa United recently welcomed a defender for an assessment.

It was before the start of the season when the Chilli Boys announced that they were sourcing new talent for the position.

They went on to list job specifications that the player must be between 19-28 and above 1.8m in height. Further, they stated they wanted someone with “box-to-box capabilities” and with a top-flight experience.

They added that if the player is a foreigner, they must have at least 10 international caps for his country.

The club, thereafter, signed Malebogo Modise on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. The left-footer has made five DStv Premiership appearances for the Eastern Cape side, starting four times and coming on from the bench on one occasion.

Morgan Mammila has also relied on Azola Ntsabo who has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season.

ESWATINI LEFT-BACK ON ASSESSMENT AT CHIPPA UNITED

The 21-year-old started training with the club on Monday having arrived in South Africa in the past weekend.

Thwala is currently in the books of the MTN Premier League giants Mbabane Swallows. The “Birds”, as they are affectionately known, gave the player a blessing as they have been talking to Chippa for some time as per reports from Eswatini.

Thwala, who has 13 international caps for Sihlangu Semnikati, has also previously been linked with another DStv Premiership side Royal AM who are currently banned by FIFA from signing players.

CHIPPA UNITED FIFA BAN

The Chilli Boys were slapped with a transfer ban by FIFA last month. They owe their former player Abdi Banda a reported R1.2 million. It is uncertain whether they have paid the money.

Another PSL club that recently received a FIFA ban is Polokwane City. This was over their dispute with a former player Khuda Muyaba.
