Pablo Franco Martin targets two AmaZulu FC records before 2024
AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has revealed two records he’s looking to break with the team before 2024.
Usuthu bounced back to winning ways in their last DStv Premiership match, defeating Sekhukhune United 1-0 in the league outing. This was after they had lost three matches on the trot in all competitions.
They have had a rollercoaster run in the league winning four, losing four and drawing six of the 14 games they have played thus far. And they sit tenth on the log standings with 18 points.
They host struggling Cape Town Spurs on Friday, 22 December at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in what will be their second last match of the year.
Should Usuthu win their next game, they will equal their 2020/21 season record they achieved after Benni McCarthy, finishing the first round of the season with 21 points.
Meanwhile, they could also set a new club record of eight clean sheets in 15 games if they manage to shut the doors at the back and not concede.

“Here all the players want to win, want to give a right history for this club because this is something as well important,” said Martin.
“If I’m not mistaken maybe you can [correct] me, in the first half of the season, having played 15 games if we win the next game we are going to be the best AmaZulu [team] in history.
“Even better than the AmaZulu team that finished in second place [in the 2020/21 season] or the one that qualified for the CAF [Champions League] or also for MTN8 tournaments for many seasons.
“So, for me, this is motivating enough. It’s not a Championship [triumph] but this is a small pages of the book that we are writing since we are here, finishing with 21 points in 15 games for this club is huge.
“If we are capable of getting another clean sheet, it could be the first time in history getting eight in 15 games as well. So, I think it’s a motivation enough for all of us to go for that and to leave a legacy once we leave in the future.”
