Sukazi gives update on intervention in Royal AM-Nurkovic impasse
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has given an update on his intervention in Royal AM and Samir Nurkovic’s legal battle.
Just before the start of this season, Thwihli Thwahla were given an ultimatum to pay Samir Nurkovic a sum in the region of R12 million or face a FIFA transfer ban.
This was after the Pietermaritzburg-based club prematurely terminated the Serbian forward’s two-year contract. He was released two months into the deal without being paid.
The world’s football mother body then imposed a transfer ban on Royal AM after they failed to pay the money owed to the 31-year-old on a day that was stated.
Meanwhile, in September, Sukazi told SABC Sport that he had been asked by Royal AM president Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize to intervene in “mediating the matter”.
He has since confirmed he played his part in helping the two parties resolve the impasse but never gave specifications as to how he offered his assistance.
TIM SUKAZI SAYS HE HOPES ROYAL AM AND NURKOVIC FIND EACH OTHER SOONER THAN LATER
“The matter between Royal AM and [Samir] Nurkovic is a matter between two independent parties,” said Sukazi in an interview with FARPost.
“And it emerged prior to our involvement with the player per se. But Royal AM is our sister club, so is their President and we do talk.
“We had a conversation. And I did say indeed I will see what it is that one could do best in trying to help them find each other on this kind of impasse they are faced with or they are facing.
“So, that’s exactly what I did, I know that lawyers have been engaging in between. We did the minimum we could do and lawyers have been engaging and talking.
“I hope sooner rather than later they find a solution. I had said the league also requires a Royal AM that is reinforced, that could sign players.
“They are a good club, they have caused dialogues on many occasions. So, they also come with a different proposition. You want a club like them to be an established component in our league.
“If you can help in the most little way, so do it. That has been a mindset on my side.”
