Baroka boss comments on Dan Malesela’s future
Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has commented on the future of the club’s head coach Dan Malesela amid speculations of interest elsewhere.
Malesela has quickly turned the fortunes around for the Motsepe Foundation Championship side after finding them languishing at the bottom half of the table. They are now third in the standings with three points behind leaders Orbit College.
Mphahlele had made it clear at the beginning of the season that he wanted nothing but promotion back to the DStv Premiership. But there has been speculation in recent times that Malesela is sought after by other clubs including those in the DStv Premiership.
But Mphahlele has emphasized that the 2019 Nedbank Cup winning coach is happy at the club and has even mobilized support from his hometown.

“He is very happy here and brings supporters to our team and he is adding value,” said Mphahlele.
“I spoke to him yesterday, I understand he is bringing supporters from his place in Pretoria, so he is happy and organizing that. They will come to our matches and that shows that he wants to stay here with us,” he said.

On the speculations that he could lose Malesela, Mphahlele had this to say: “It’s just like with our players when a team is doing well, there are people who just want to reap where they didn’t sow.”
“Dan was sitting at home for six months before he came to us. Nobody was talking about him. Now he is here for three months and people like him. It is normal. Dan is doing a good job and that’s why everybody wants to associate with him.”
