Ex-Chippa defender wanted by Malawian giants

A former Chippa United defender has emerged as a major target for Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets ahead of the 2024 season.

Zimbabwean defender Kevin Moyo is part of Nyasa Big Bullets’ 2024 wishlist that also includes Kenyan goalkeeper Kelvin Mwenda.

Moyo is currently in the books of Dynamos FC of Zimbabwe, with one year remaining on his contract.

The Bulawayo-born defender was a vital cog for Dynamos last season when they won the Chibuku Super Cup. And with his vast experience, Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa aims to reinforce his defence as they look forward to the next CAF Champions League edition.

Pasuwa has previously worked with Moyo during his stint as the Zimbabwe national team coach.

But Pasuwa’s side will have to flex their financial muscle, considering that Moyo still has a contract with Dynamos.

Moreso, the Malawian champions are yet to formally approach the Harare giants for the steady defender’s services.

Nyasa Big Bullets have been dominant in the Malawian elite league in the last five years. They won five consecutive league titles but have found it difficult to make a lasting impression on the continental stage.

Kevin Moyo and his brother, Elvis Moyo, left the DStv Premiership in January 2020 after a brief spell with the Chilli Boys.

The former Chippa United defenders joined the club in July 2019 from FC Platinum when they were lured by the then-coach Norman Mapeza.

Kevin featured in more matches than his twin brother. He played in 27 league matches for Chippa, while Elvis played only nine matches.

Before joining the PSL, Kevin and Elvis won Zimbabwe’s PSL with FC Platinum on two occasions in 2017 and 2018.

During that time, Kevin broke into the national team, where he went on to earn six caps.
