AmaZulu FC welcome new striker for trial

AmaZulu FC have welcomed a new striker for a trial as they are looking to reinforce their striking department ahead of the second round.

Usuthu have made just one signing in the January transfer window, welcoming Sfiso Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns on a six-month loan deal. The left-back will be competing for a starting place with the Namibian star Riaan Hanamub.

They have parted ways with Tercious Malepe and Sibusiso Mabiliso who are now free agents.

The KZN side has also been linked with Sammy Seabi of Mamelodi Sundowns. SABC Sport reported that AmaZulu asked Sundowns for the services of both Ngobeni and Seabi on loan deals for the remainder of the season.

The Durban-based outfit has now welcomed Tristan Nikitaridis for assessment after the striker returned from Norway where he was on trial with Molde FK.

WHY TRISTAN NIKITARIDIS DIDN’T SIGN FOR MOLDE?

The Norwegian side was said to have offered him a contract but he couldn’t put pen to paper because they tabled way less than what he expected and what he could possibly get locally.

In addition, the player couldn’t sacrifice his academics for something unsatisfying. It appears that Nikitaridis is still a student at the University of Johannesburg.

He emerged as a prolific scorer in the Varsity Football Tournament for UJ. He then signed a long-term contract with Baroka in 2022 when they were still up in the DStv Premiership.

The 24-year-old spent only one campaign with them before leaving following their relegation to the second tier.

He joined the University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and parted ways with them before the start of the current season. He’s now in search of what could be his fourth professional contract.
