Former Swallows striker finds new home

A former Moroka Swallows striker has found a new home in the lower division, SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

The talented forward has been banging goals for fun in the SAFA Johannesburg Regional League for Lesco FC.

At Lesco, he scored 20 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions. This goes down to show that experience can never be bought.

The ex-Baroka FC and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] goalscorer Naeem Amoojee has resurfaced at the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side African All Stars.

Amoojee’s freakish scoring rate at Lesco caught the attention of African All Stars in the SA third-tier league.

African All Stars are currently sitting top of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League log standings. The side has collected 31 points, just a point ahead of second-placed Jomo Cosmos.

The side will play their next league fixture against Wits University on Saturday, 27 January away from home. The showdown is scheduled for 15:30 at Wits University Club Page.

With all being said, Amoojee has no intentions of slowing down on his scoring rate, as he’s keen to attract interest from the clubs in the SA football top flight.

An interview with FARPost four weeks ago, the player revealed that he doesn’t play football for money, but for the love he has for the sport, hence he doesn’t mind playing in the lower division.

Meanwhile, the side also brought in rising star Samkele Sihlali. He joined African All Stars from Sekhukhune United’s DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side.

The duo is expected to help the side achieve its ultimate goal of winning the league and qualifying for the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.
