DStv Prem monthly awards winners for November/ December

The PSL have announced the DStv Premiership monthly awards winners for November and December 2023.

Stellenbosch FC’s lqraam Rayners walked away with the DStv Premiership Player of the Month for November and December 2023.

This is the third time Rayners has won the award in his football career, having won the PSL monthly award in March and April 2023.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch mentor Steve Barker has been named the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month award for November/December. The 56-year-old coach previously won the accolade two years ago [May 2022]

This comes after Barker guided Stellies to five wins in six games. This includes their impressive 3-2 win over Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium. As a result, the Cape club collected 15 out of 16 points, scoring 10 goals and conceding just four times during this period.

“During this impressive run, Rayners scored four goals for Stellies in the November/December period, leading his side from the front, as Stellies moved up to 4th position on the log standings,” reads the PSL’s statement.

“Rayners and Barker won the awards unanimously ahead of players such as Evidence Makgopa [Orlando Pirates], Luyolo Slatsha [Cape Town City] and coaches Eric Tinkler [Cape Town City] and Jose Riveiro [Orlando Pirates], while Cavin Johnson [Kaizer Chiefs] received a special mention from the judging panel made up of football journalists, broadcasters, and commentators.”

STELLENBOSCH FC MAKE HISTORY

This is the first time in Stellenbosch’s history that the awards are won by both the player and coach in the same month.

On the other hand, Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule won the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month award, following his beautiful long-range goal during their 3-0 win over Cape Town Spurs at Loftus in December 2023.

Mbule’s teammate Lucas Ribeiro and Ronaldo Maarman of Chippa United were also in contention for the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month award, following their spectacular free-kick strikes.

With all being said, all the winning coaches and players will each receive a trophy and R7,000 courtesy of league sponsors, DStv.
