Ex-Pirates striker lands coaching job in Poland
A former Orlando Pirates striker has landed a coaching gig in Poland as one of KS Bibiczanka’s youth academy coaches, it has emerged.
The former Orlando Pirates striker Takesure Chinyama carved a niche in Poland during his days as a player.
In the DStv Premiership, he made 15 appearances for the Buccaneers, although he was highly-rated. He managed to score three goals and provide two assists. Chinyama also had a brief stint at the now-defunct Platinum Stars.
However, the 44-year-old Zimbabwean was a top performer in Poland, where he mainly played for Legia Warszawa.
Chinyama is currently working on getting his UEFA badges, having acquired some of the CAF coaching badges.
WHAT THE POLISH CLUB SAID ABOUT THE EX-PIRATES STRIKER
In unveiling the former Dynamos and FC Platinum striker, the academy director Mariusz Skrzyński said: “Takesure Chinyama, former footballer of Legia Warsaw and the top scorer of the Polish Ekstraklasa in 2009, a representative of Zimbabwe, begins his coaching career at the START Sport Academy.
“And will support the further development of players training at the Football Academy, KS Bibiczanka. Coach Takesure Chinyama will work with coaches of youth groups that participate in league games.
“He will take an active part in selected classes so that each of our players can have direct contact with a player of this class.
“Co-operation with a former extra-classy football player, the king of shooters, as well as a Zimbabwean representative, should awaken the passion among players of AP KS Bibiczanka.
“And it will help develop their awareness and purpose of participating in football training. We think it will be a very valuable experience for our players, especially since Chinyama is an open and cheerful person.
“He is willing to work with children and young people. Soon, he [Chinyama] will appear in our teams’ first classes.”
FORMER AGENT HAILS TAKESURE CHINYAMA
Chinyama’s former agent Micheal Ngobeni spoke highly about former striker Chinyama.
“He was under M Sport Management as a player, but we are still in touch. When we manage our players, when they retire, we don’t abandon them,” Ngobeni said.
“We make sure we assist them in the best possible way in their pursuit of other avenues in football. We are assisting him in every way to make sure that he has everything that he needs, including his coaching license.
“He is in the process of acquiring his UEFA C and B coaching badges, and we will assist him in every way,”
