Former Sundowns striker Gift Motupa resurfaces at PSL side
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Gift Motupa has resurfaced at a new PSL side ahead of the DStv Premiership second round.
The 29-year-old footballer has been without a club since parting ways with Sundowns two days ago. Motupa signed for Bafana Ba Style in September 2020 from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
The Limpopo-born forward struggled for game at Masandawana, with both parties finally succumbing to a decision to cut ties on a mutual agreement.
Before Motupa’s departure at Chloorkop, the former Orlando Pirates man was not training with Sundowns but the Brazilians’ feeder team, M Tigers, in the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League. He didn not make any appearance for Sundowns this season.
Last campaign, Motupa made seven appearances for Sundowns across all competitions and contributed two goals in the process.
Motupa also had stints with teams such as Baroka FC and Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.
GIFT MOTUPA SPOTTED AT SUPERSPORT UNITED
Motupa has been spotted at the Tshwane giants SuperSport United, who are Sundowns’ cross-town arch-rivals.
The talented goalscorer will be hoping to secure a deal and get his mojo back, as he wants to revive his football career.
With the January transfer window period closed on Friday, 26 January 2024, that won’t affect his move, as Motupa is a free agent and can join any team of his choice at any time.
With the experience that Motupa boasts, a deal could be on the cards for the gifted frontman.
SUPERSPORT UNITED’S NEXT ASSIGNMENT
Matsatsantsa will return to action on Tuesday, 13 February 2024, against Sekhukhune United at home in a DStv Premiership clash. The showdown will start at 19:30 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
As things stand, SuperSport are placed third on the table with 29 points from 16 outings.
