Lesotho number one goalkeeper signs for PSL club

Lesotho number one goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane has secured a switch to the PSL club from Lesotho Mounted Police Service FC.

The 26-year-old has made a significant impact particularly when playing for the national team where he attracted SA teams.

He was part of the Likuena team that reached the COSAFA Cup in July last year in Durban. He played a key role helping his country get to the first COSAFA Cup final since 2000.

However, they lost to Zambia with a 1-0 scoreline.

Moerane walked away with the Golden Glove during the presentation of individual awards after an impressive showing in the tournament. He kept two clean sheets from five games that Lesotho played in the competition.

After the tournament, he was said to have caught attention of multiple clubs both in the DStv Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship. He has now signed for Orbit College, his agency Opus Sports Group confirmed.

“We are delighted to have assisted our client and Lesotho National Team Goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane with his first professional move,” Opus Sports Group announced.

“He will be joining NFD leaders Orbit College FC in South Africa, a move we believe will be beneficial to his career and help him on his way to a successful future as a professional player.

“We also thank Orbit College FC and Lesotho Mounted Police Service FC whose professionalism ensured the deal was completed before the PSL transfer window closure last week.”

Orbit College secured automatic promotion to the second-tier at the beginning of the season after winning the ABC Motsepe National Playoffs semi-finals. However, the North West outfit went on to lose to Upington City in the final.

So far, they have defied the odds as they sit at the top of the table with 30 points after 17 games.
