Sekhukhune United complete registration of Ghanaian striker
Sekhukhune United have secured a major boost ahead of the second round after registering a Ghanaian striker for both the CAF Confederation Cup and PSL.
Babina Noko had an inconsistent first round under the stewardship of Brandon Truter who was eventually shown the exit door in November ending a year stint with the Limpopo side. The club appointed Lehlohonolo Seema to take the reins.
The former Polokwane City mentor has also had a poor start, winning two, losing three and drawing two out of seven games the club has played in all competitions. Sekhukhune are 15th on the DStv Premiership standings with 18 points collected after the completion of the first round.
They will be looking to emerge revitalised in the second round. Seema has more options for the upfront role with the club having registered the Ghanaian striker Michael Sarpong who signed last year.
LATEST ON SEKHUKHUNE UNITED NEW SIGNING MICHAEL SARPONG
Despite having signed for Sekhukhune United in September last year, Sarpong could not make his debut due to work permit delays. FARPost has learnt that the former Yanga SC forward has secured the work permit.
The club has registered him for the PSL and the CAF Confederation Cup as they’ll be aiming to qualify for the quarter-finals when they return.
He might appear for the first time wearing Sekhukhune colors when they take on SuperSport United on the road in the league outing on Tuesday, 13 February.
Sarpong will compete with Chibuike Ohizu and Tashreeq Morris who’re usually tasked to score for the side. The Nigerian forward, Ohizu has five goals and one assist in 24 matches he has featured in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Cape Town-born striker, Morris has yet to bury the ball into the back of the net. He has played five league games and three CAF Confederation Cup.
Babina Noko have made even more signings in the midseason window bringing in Teboho Letsema, Edmar Kamatuka and Katlego Mohamme [on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns]. And they have the option to buy the center-back at the end of the season if they’re happy.
