Despite admitting that leaving Europe for Africa “kind of felt like a step back”, new Cape Town City signing Prins Tjieuza has explained his decision.
The Citizens acquired the services of the Namibian attacker during the mid-season transfer window while he was shining at AFCON. Tjieuza was previously linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, however, the move didn’t materialise.
The Mother City-based club signed the 21-year-old from the Kosovo club KF Liria.
The left-footer played 15 matches across competitions for Liria, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
Tjieuza says he joined Cape Town City because he was looking for a new adventure and was captivated by the club’s ambitions.
He also believes DStv Premiership is better than the league he was plying his trade in at Liria commending African football for development.

PRINS TJIEUZA EXPLAINS HIS DECISION TO JOIN CAPE TON CITY
“Coming back from Europe kind of feels like going one step back but I think it’s a great thing cause Cape Town City, for me, the facilities are good, the club is good and where they are on the log,” said Tjieuza.
“And there is ambition, I am looking to working with them.
“I think the South African Premier League is higher than the league I was playing in before,” he added.
“I think football in Africa is getting developed with time and I think it’s one of the best leagues currently in Africa. So, I think it is somehow, cause most of the people would think it’s a step back cause I’m young.
“But I just want to try something new, hence, I’m going there.”
City are second on the log standings behind Masandawana having collected 29 points after 16 league matches.
