Zongo dismissed again: Another club parts ways with embattled midfielder

Wayward midfielder Masibusane Zongo has been dismissed by ABC Motsepe League side Munaca FC for disciplinary issues.

The former SuperSport United and Platinum Stars player joined the third-tier league club in December last year.

The 33-year-old only made one appearance at the SAFA Limpopo Stream A side.

He told FARPost at the time how grateful he was for the opportunity to revive his career. “Honestly, it’s the amazing God that I praise,” he said in December 2023.

“I come from a family that believes in God, which is my Mother and sister. We pray so much at home and when it comes to the football industry. There are positives that come from not playing. How to see life outside of football. I grew up in the football industry since I was 11 years old.”

“On the negative side, things become difficult because you are used to a certain lifestyle. Now, you have to adapt to a new lifestyle. You actually get to see the people that actually love you. I think that’s what I have learned the most.”

But barely two months later, Zongo was shown the door after allegedly arriving at training under the influence of alcohol. He faced the club Disciplinary Committee [DC] and was later dismissed.

Munaca FC team manager Ronewa Nephawe confirmed that the club has parted ways with Zongo. But declined to divulge the reasons.

“Indeed, Masibusane Zongo is no longer with us,” he said. “It has been two weeks now since we mutually parted ways after a disciplinary process. But that’s all I can say; it was an internal matter.

“We felt that the best way is for both parties to go their separate ways. No further comment on the issue.”

Before his move to Limpopo, Zongo also had a short stint at Oriented Birds in the Western Cape.
