What puts John Maduka at ease ahead of Kaizer Chiefs clash

Royal AM coach John Maduka has shared what has lightened the burden for his side as they prepare for a tough second-round opener against Kaizer Chiefs.

The two sides played to a 0-0 stalemate in the first part of the DStv Premiership campaign at the FNB Stadium.

Both of them aim to climb up the table with Royal AM looking to distance themselves from relegation zone while Amakhosi would surely like to sit in a better position than number six.

And while Maduka admitted that he’s expecting a “difficult” encounter against the Soweto giants, having his full squad to select from, is what put him at ease.

According to the Thwihli Thwahla gaffer, all players that were injured are back in training with the team.

JOHN MADUKA HAPPY TO HAVE THE FULL SQUAD TO CHOOSE FROM FOR CHIEFS CLASH

“So far so good, the preparations have been going well and the boys have been responding very well, it’s good to have the full squad,” Maduka told the club’s media department.

“The players that were injured have come back and they are training with the team. So, it’s good to have the likes of Khetho [Khethokwakhe Masuku], [Zukile] Mkhize, Levy Mashiane, and Patrick [Nyame].

“So, yeah we’re looking forward to the game. We know that it’s gonna be a very difficult game. It’s always good to play against teams like Kaizer Chiefs because for you to be known or recognised, you have to play against the best.”

Maduka says they are wary of Chiefs’ speedy attackers and are aware of the danger they could present on the day.

‘WE KNOW OF THEIR SPEEDY PLAYERS’

“I think it’s gonna be more of a tactical game, we know of their speedy players, they are very quick in transition when they win the ball,” he added.

“They go forward as quickly as possible. So, it’s very important for us to be cautious especially when we go forward, attacking them so we can have balance.”

The match takes place on Sunday, 18 February at the Harry Gwala Stadium at 3:30 pm.
