Dan Malesela lambast ‘arrogant’ match officials

Barely one match into the resumption of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Baroka FC coach Dan Malesela has raised concerns about what he says are arrogant match officials.

Baroka were held to a 1-1 draw by Platinum City Rovers in Lebowakgomo on Wednesday. Rovers are under the guidance of former Orlando Pirates winger Tlou Segolela.

‘ARROGANT’ MATCH OFFICIALS A WORRY FOR DAN MALESELA

“We have a lot of situations in our football you know. You can not speak about them because you are scared about the consequences,” he said.

“If we don’t fix our football it will go nowhere. The national team showed that we are getting somewhere but there are other structures of our football that are just not good at all. They do as they please and it’s okay.

“I don’t even want to go there because nothing will happen. But if I start mentioning names and all these things then I am in big trouble. So if that’s how we want our football to go, so be it,” added Malesela.

BAROKA FC COACH WANTS REFEREES TO START BEING ACCOUNTABLE

“We will have to fight with all these things that we have to fight against. It’s not a funny thing because you don’t think about other people because you probably don’t care about them.

“But there are people here whose families depend on this thing.

“I work for my family, my family relies on me to put bread on their table. It’s not something you can take likely and be selfish and do your own thing,” he said.

“We have to account because we are carrying the lives of people here. For all these players, this is their livelihood. You come and you do as you please and you become arrogant about it, no. It can not work like that”
