How football profile has helped Katlego Mphela as car salesman
Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns goal poacher Katlego ‘Killer’ Mphela has revealed how his football profile has helped him as a car salesman.
The retired footballer found a new life after football at a car dealership as a salesman, having hung up his boots in 2017.
‘Killer’, as he’s popularly known within the football circles, works as a salesman for a well-known car dealership in Lindsay Saker VW Midrand, Gauteng.
KATLEGO MPHELA ON LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL AS SALESMAN
The ex-Kaizer Chiefs man opened up about his decision to become a salesman and how many people misinterpreted it.
Mphela explained clearly in an interview with FARPost that the reason he took the salesman’s job was not because he was “down and out” [not having money to sustain himself].
“Let’s get this clear, for me to do the sales job is not because I’m down and out. It’s about the opportunity that I got,” ‘Killer’ told this publication. “I saw an opportunity and I then took it. So, it’s not about me going there trying to bounce back from something.
“I mean, I have other businesses that I have been doing. So, I think people think that I went there because I don’t have money. Yes, I don’t have that money [a lot of it] but I live a comfortable life.”

Mphela went on to divulge the real reason why he became a salesman. ‘Killer’ stated that he decided to be a salesman because his used to dealing with lots of people because of his football career.
He deemed his decision as a “smooth transition,” because his football profile came in handy [made things easier for him].
“Going into sales, it was not about me being down and out. If it compares it to football, we deal with a lot of people, so it’s a smooth transition because I’m used to people,” added the 39-year-old former footballer.
