Milford FC coach makes huge revelation ahead of Chiefs clash

Milford FC coach Nkululeko Buthelezi has made a revelation about the family of the club’s owner ahead of their clash with Kaizer Chiefs.

The two sides will face off in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 on Sunday, 25 February at FNB Stadium battling for a spot in the last 16.

Buthelezi weighed in on discussions about Amakhosi’s bad history with lower divisions teams. Previously, they have been shocked by Baroka, Richards Bay, Acornbush, FC Cape Town and TS Galaxy in the 2019 final.

However, Buthelezi believes it will be a different ball game and they will be aiming to give Amakhosi a run for their money.

“They [previous Chiefs opponents] also had their own plans of how to beat Chiefs as we will also come with our own plan,” he said during the Nedbank Cup press conference.

“So, the plans are not the same, so we are ready to give them a difficult game. That’s what I can say.”

Buthelezi says the players are excited for the encounter with the Soweto giants. And jokingly, he revealed that there could be some split of club loyalties as the family of the Milford’s owner Xanti Pupuma supports Chiefs.

“What I can say is players are the ones who are really looking forward to this game more than us the coaches,” said Buthelezi.

“I think they will do all they can to defeat Chiefs cause they’re really looking forward to the game. But from the technical [team], I can say that the family supports Chiefs, I don’t know but players really want to win the match,” he added.

Last season, Amakhosi were knocked out in the semi-final by Orlando Pirates who went on to hoist the cup, defeating Sekhukhune United.
