Kuda Mahachi finds new home in Zimbabwe’s PSL

Following in Khama Billiat‘s footsteps, former SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has found a new home in Zimbabwe.

Mahachi was left clubless after being offloaded by Ghana’s Medeama SC at the end of January this year.

The 30-year-old attacker was in Ghana since August 2023, returning to action after over a year on the sidelines.

In Ghana, the Zimbabwean was restricted to cameo appearances, where he only scored one goal.

The left-footed winger Kudakwashe Mahachi struggled with match fitness before Medeama cut him into the wilderness.

As he continues the bid to reinvent himself, the former SuperSport United winger has signed for Manica Diamonds.

Mahachi was linked with Yadah FC and Dynamos but the Diamonds outfit had a better offer. He agreed to a two-year deal with the ambitious Zimbabwe’s PSL outfit.

Manica Diamonds is his third club elite league club in Zimbabwe, having played for Chicken Inn and Highlanders FC.

It remains to be seen if he will replicate the same form that once made him a household name in Zimbabwe.

He joins Manica Diamonds, who finished the 2023 season as runners-up to Ngezi Platinum Stars.

His wealth of experience comes in handy to the Mutare-based side who will look to continue their bid to win the Zimbabwean title.

Apart from Orlando Pirates and Matsatsantsa, the speedy winger also played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.

But he lasted longer at Golden Arrows where he made 79 appearances and managed 13 goals.

For SuperSport United, he made 71 appearances, while scoring six goals for the Gavin Hunt-coached side.

Another former PSL star, Evans Rusike is also linked with a return to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. Rusike has been clubless since leaving Moroka Swallows in June last year.
