Arrows throw light on Khenyeza’s future after Komphela’s appointment
Golden Arrows have thrown light on Mabhuti Khenyeza’s future after the appointment of Steve Komphela on Thursday.
During the unveiling of the former Moroka Swallows, Abafana Bes’thende didn’t state whether Khenyeza would continue to be in the dugout.
Komphela was brought to rescue the club as the struggles for results have been persisting. The Durban-based side has lost 11 consecutive matches in all competitions since November last year.
The KZN side had a good start to the season but has dropped into the bottom half of the DStv Premiership table. They sit in 12th position having accumulated 23 points in 19 games they have played.
Speaking to FARPost, the club’s media officer Mqo Thusi confirmed that Mabhuti Khenyeza, along with Musa Bilankulu, will remain in the dugout as assistant coaches to Komphela.

“As a club, we took a decision to bring Steve Komphela back but the other coaches [Mabhuti Khenyeza and Musa Bilankulu] are still part of the club,” said Thusi.
“Steve will be assisted by coach Mabhuti and Musa Bilankulu. They will work together.
“Knowing his experience, the club decided that he [Komphela] leads the technical team.”
Komphela’s previous stint with Arrows was between 2018 and 2020 before he left for Mamelodi Sundowns where he was roped in as a Senior Coach.
He was in charge of Arrows in 53 matches, winning 18, drawing 15 and losing 20.
This season, he won five, drew four and lost nine of 18 matches as a Swallows coach before he departed last month.
He’ll be in the touchline when they take on Polokwane City on Sunday afternoon in the league match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The match will kick off at 15:30.
