How Khama Billiat is adjusting to Zimbabwe’s PSL

Khama Billiat’s coach at Yadah FC, Thomas Ruzive, has spoken on how the former Kaizer Chiefs star is adjusting to life in Zimbabwe.

The Amakhosi attacker made his first start for Yadah FC on Sunday when they drew 1-1 with Bikita Minerals.

His first appearance was a cameo appearance in a match they lost to Hwange FC, a fortnight ago. While so much is expected from the 2015/16 PSL Player of the season, his match fitness has been a major doubt.

But his coach, Ruzive is impressed by how the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man has acclimatised to his new reality.

BILLIAT’S NEW COACH MAKES HIS ASSESSMENT

“Khama has not played football for a long time but I think you can see his quality. His performance was encouraging. He will get better and better.

“He has got a footballing brain above everybody pretty much, because of how long he has played at the highest level. His attitude is fantastic, he wants to help the team and work with the team.

“He is adapting well to our play and the league. He is giving us a dimension which we did not have before.

“That is what we want and like I said, he will continue to improve. We know what Khama can do and he is already showing glimpses of the player that he is,” Ruzive said.

Billiat joined Yadah last month after failing to secure a contract in the DStv Premiership since leaving Kaizer Chiefs.

BILLIAT DSTV PREMIERSHIP JOURNEY

His departure from South Africa marked the end of his 13-year stint that had good memories at Mamelodi Sundowns.

He had a remarkable career that saw him winning the 2015/16 Footballer of the Season under Pitso Mosimane.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star first played for Ajax Cape Town [now known as Cape Town Spurs].

His stay at Ajax was followed by a trophy-laden career at Mamelodi Sundowns from 2013 to 2018.

He made a hyped switch to Amakhosi where he suddenly fell from grace. In six years at Naturena, he won nothing before he snubbed a contract renewal.
