Banyana star continues scoring spree in Liga MX Femenil
Banyana Banyana star Jermaine Seoposenwe has continued with her scoring spree for CF Monterrey Women in the Liga MX Femenil, Mexico’s top-flight.
Seoposenwe played a crucial role as CF Monterrey defeated Club Tijuana in a four-goal thriller when they won 3-1 on Friday morning as she found the back of the net.
The 2022 WAFCON winner joined the club ahead of the 2023/24 season in June 2023. She made a switch from another club in the league, FC Juarez Femenil.
Through her consistent performances, the 30-year-old has become a key player in the team. So far this season, she has made 12 league appearances.
JERMAINE SEOPOSENWE SCORES HER SEVENTH LEAGUE GOAL
The goal that the Banyana star scored happened to be her seventh of the campaign. The Cape Town-born star put her name on the scoresheet just before the hour to give her side a 2-1 lead.
Nicole Perez broke the deadlock for Monterrey as early as the seventh minute before Dani Espinosa pulled one back for Tijuana in the 26th minute. Ana Lucia Martinez then sealed the victory, making it 3-1 in stoppage time.
Monterrey have been consistent and in great form in their recent league matches. They are unbeaten in five outings after registering four victories and one stalemate.
The victory saw them climb to second place on the log standings. They are now two points behind another Banyana star, Thembi Kgatlana team’s Tigres UANL Femenil. Seoposenwe’s side has collected 29 points from 12 matches.
The talented attacker is expected to feature in the next match when they face Mazatlan Femenil on 15 April. Mazatlan boasts two Banyana stars: Sinoxolo Cesane and Hilda Magaia.
