Vusumuzi Vilakazi on Sundowns: ‘They’re human beings as well’

Richards Bay FC head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has given a preview for his side’s upcoming clash against the unstoppable Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Natal Rich Boyz are among the DStv Premiership teams that are scrambling for points to avoid relegation.

The KZN side has only managed three wins from 21 league matches this season. They are in the 15th position with two points ahead of Cape Town Spurs who are rooted to the foot of the table.

Bay have only collected 14 points of the possible 63.

They lost their previous game in the KZN derby against Golden Arrows on Saturday.

Ahead of them is a tough task against the league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who haven’t lost a league game this season, winning 14 and drawing four.

Vilakazi says they understand it’s going to be a “difficult” one against the Brazilians. However, he stated that they will try to keep up with the hosts who also happen to be “human beings”.

“Players need to take responsibility in terms of making sure that they save their jobs,” said Vilakazi after a match against Golden Arrows.

“It’s very important for us and it’s a difficult game that we are going for in the next game against Sundowns.

“But because we’ll be playing human beings as well, we need to go there and compete and see what we can do. Our situation is not the same; they are on top. We need to show on a field of play.

“So, we can’t look down now, we have to chin up and try to make sure that we work and try to grind for the results.”

The match takes place on Tuesday, 2 April at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 7:30 pm.
