Why Lifa Hlongwane had lost interest in playing football
Baroka FC winger Lifa Hlongwane has finally opened up on what led to his departure at DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy.
Hlongwane recently joined Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka after two seasons at Galaxy.
The 30-year-old surprisingly terminated his contract with the DStv Premiership side late last year despite enjoying regular time previously.
He tells FARPost how he decided to part ways with the Mpumalanga-based club after feeling out of place.

“The issue was that the coach [Sead Ramovic] changed the way the team plays, so I felt I didn’t fit in. So yeah, I went home,” said Hlongwane.
“Obviously, if I don’t fit into his style, there would be some differences. So, I felt it compromised my strength. But I respect his way of doing things, so I didn’t cause any trouble and left in peace.
“I was initially supposed to leave at the beginning of the season, but the coach said he still needed to use me. But when things started to change, you started to hate football and didn’t feel like going to training,” he added.
HOW THE MOVE TO MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB BAROKA FC CAME ABOUT
“So I ended up reaching out to coach Dan [Malesela] because I needed to regain my confidence,” stated Hlongwane.
“I knew that by coming here, I would play football, and I can see now that there are a lot of things I didn’t know about football.
“I am learning a lot here under coach Dan. From training everything, we pay attention to every detail. But I am happy here and I am enjoying my football even at training.”
Hlongwane has already featured eight times in all competitions for the promotion-chasing side.
