Chippa United at risk of losing highly-rated defender for free

With the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season edging closer to the end, Chippa United are at risk of losing one of their highly-rated defenders for free.

The Chilli Boys are fresh from claiming an impressive 2-0 victory against Kaizer Chiefs at a sold-out Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday in the league.

The win saw Chippa keep their hopes of finishing in the top eight alive after moving to 10th position on the league table.

They have collected 29 points in 23 matches, and they are one point away from Chiefs, who occupy the eighth spot. The Port Elizabeth-based side has won seven matches in the league, drew eight, and lost on eight occasions.

While Chippa has seemingly built a competitive squad in the current campaign, they could lose a highly-rated defender, Azola Ntsabo.

Ntsabo had a good start to the season with Chippa after starting 10 matches in all competitions in the first round of the campaign.

AZOLA NTSABO’S CONTRACT EXPIRES IN JUNE 2024

The 25-year-old winger-back was a regular starter at the Chippa Mpengesi-owned team before suffering a confidential medical condition. He last featured for the club in the Carling Knockout Cup against Stellenbosch FC in October 2023.

Ntobatsi Mesegela, Ntsabo’s agent, has revealed that his client’s contract will end in June 2024.

“We want to thank everyone who has been supporting him throughout his challenges. He is in good shape of mind and ready to continue where he left off and do better than that,” Masegela told FARPost.

“Azola Ntsabo’s contract with Chippa United is coming to an end in June 2024 but the focus is for him to get back and fight for his position.

“We will have all the options on the table at the end of the current season. He’s doing a lot of individual training and working on conditioning his state of mind. Physically, he’s in a very good shape.”
