Sekhukhune United dominate DStv Premiership awards for February/March

The PSL has revealed the recipients of the DStv Premiership’s monthly awards, recognising the standout performers from February and March 2024.

Sekhukhune United swept both the Coach and Player of the Month categories, showcasing their impressive form during that period, while an Orlando Pirates player won the Goal of the Month accolade.

Following Sekhukhune United‘s fine form in the SA’s elite league, the club’s head coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, has been rewarded with the Coach of the Month accolade, whereas club captain Linda Mntambo walked away with the DStv Premiership Player of the Month award.

This is Seema’s first DStv Premiership Coach of the Month after guiding Babina Noko to the top four in the league.

He joined Sekhukhune in November and has made a remarkable change in the February/March period, with the Limpopo club winning five out of five matches. In those five games, Sekhukhune managed to score 11 goals and only conceded thrice.

LINDA MNTAMBO WINS HIS FIRST MONTHLY INDIVIDUAL AWARD

DStv Premiership Player of the Month winner Mntambo has been out of action for a year due to an injury. But his return to the club has been phenomenal.

Since his return, Mntambo has scored three goals and provided two assists, which helped him win his first monthly individual award in the league.

“This is the first time in the history of the DStv Premiership awards that a coach or player from Sekhukhune won an award,” said the PSL.

THABISO LEBITSO WINS DSTV PREMIERSHIP GOAL OF THE MONTH

“Orlando Pirates new right-back, Thabiso Lebitso, welcomed himself to the Bucs’ faithful with stunningly taken goal from outside the 18-yard box in his side’s 3-2 win over rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby and saw his goal voted the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month for February/March.

“Teboho Mokoena came very close to getting the award for his screamer against SuperSport United last month.

“For their recognition, all the winning coaches and players will each receive a trophy and R7, 000 courtesy of league sponsors, DStv.”
