REVEALED! Will AmaTuks duo face parent club Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup?

AmaTuks head coach Tlisane Motaung has revealed whether the Mamelodi Sundowns duo at the club will be eligible to face their parent club in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.

The University of Pretoria will face Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup last eight at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday, 12th of April.

AmaTuks remains the only lower-division side left in the Nedbank Cup after beating Venda FC, Cape Town Spurs, and Moroka Swallows on the road to the quarter-finals.

The Tshwane-based side is also fighting to gain automatic promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the DStv Premiership next season. After 23 matches, they are sitting second on the league table with 44 points, while Magesi FC occupies the top spot with 45 points.

With Tuks aiming to cause a big upset against the reigning DStv Premiership champions, FARPost understands that Promise Mkhuma and Thabang Sibanyoni, who are on loan from Sundowns, will be unavailable to face their parent club.

Sibanyoni has been one of the key players for AmaTuks in the Championship as they continue to push for promotion. The 28-year-old attacker has scored eight goals in 23 matches across all competitions.

He joined AmaTuks at the start of the 2023/24 campaign on a season-long loan from Masandawana. Before joining Tuks, the goal-poacher spent the previous season on loan at SuperSport United.

Meanwhile, Mkhuma has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at AmaTuks after playing eight games in all competitions. The talented midfielder is yet to open his scoring account for the season.

Tlisane Motaung has explained why the pair will not be available to face the Brazilians in the highly-anticipated cup encounter.

“Thabang Sibanyoni and Promise Mkhuma won’t play against Mamelodi Sundowns due to their loan contracts between the two clubs.”
