Motshwari warns Pirates: ‘We’re not Golden Arrows’
AmaZulu FC midfielder Ben Motshwari has warned Orlando Pirates ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash on Saturday.
The match will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 6 pm.
It’s a battle between two Spanish tacticians Pablo Franco Martin and Jose Riveiro. Neither of them prevailed when they met for the first time in the first round of the DStv Premiership as the match ended 0-0.
Usuthu grabbed a morale-boosting victory over Cape Town City in the league last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers come to this game with their tails up after they routed Golden Arrows 7-1 at Orlando Stadium.
Motshwari insisted AmaZulu aren’t shaken when they look at the Soweto giants’ performance against Abafana Bes’thende in their previous outing.
He says Usuthu won’t make it easy for Pirates and believes they have what it takes to go pound-to-pound with his former club.

“It also goes with the approach, we are not Golden Arrows,” said Motshwari during the pre-match press conference.
“I think they had a different game plan, approaching that match. I don’t know what they were doing as they were hammered 7-1.
“But for us, it’s gonna be a different ball game altogether. For us we are cautious, hopefully, they finished those goals against Arrows.
“Coming here is not gonna be easy for them. So we gonna give them a tough time. I think we do have quality, players that can play football and who can go pound-to-pound with them.
“Yes, they’re a big team, we respect them but this is football, anything can happen.”
While Pirates are looking to retain the Nedbank Cup title which they won last year, beating Sekhukhune United in the final, Usuthu aim to go all the way to end the 32-year trophy drought. They have not lifted a trophy since 1992 when they won the Coca-Cola Cup.
