Thato Khiba opens up on Chiefs and Pirates links
TS Galaxy midfielder Thato Khiba has opened up on being linked with a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign nears its conclusion.
The 27-year-old footballer has put in a decent run for the Mpumalanga-based team, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 11 league games from 21 matches that the Rockets have played in the DStv Premiership thus far.
Overall, Khiba has featured in 17 games across all competitions. Galaxy coach, Sead Ramovic, has praised the attacking midfielder for his improvements since joining the team in July 2023 after being released by Bahlabane ba Ntwa on mutual agreement following their relegation from the DStv Premiership.
The Serbian mentor believes Khiba could become one of the best midfielders in the league if he continues to work hard. “When he came here, he struggled with our density of the training,” said Ramovic during the Nedbank Cup press conference on Wednesday, 10 April 2024.
“But after a while, when he saw that this was the only way where he could improve because he also saw it from the other players who improved and probably got feedback from the players that if you don’t work hard, you will be replaced.
“He started to train very well and he started to be excellent in a lot of things and if excellence becomes a habit, this is who you are then. I’m sure that he will improve even more and become the best midfield player in our league.”
Khiba signed a three-year contract with an option to extend by a further two years with Galaxy.

In an interview with FARPost, Khiba said: “To be honest with you, I have seen the news making rounds on social media lately.”
“But I haven’t really put my mind to it because I have been focused on the league and trying to help my team to achieve greater things.
“My agent hasn’t really touched on anything about that with me so far, as I’m focused on the job in hand which is giving my all for my current club.”
As things stand, there is still no indication of whether Galaxy are open to selling him when the 2023/24 DStv Premiership curtains come down.
