Tshepo Motsoeneng off to ABC Motsepe national playoffs for the sixth time
Coach Tshepo Motsoeneng will make his sixth appearance at the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs after winning the KwaZulu-Natal provincial playoffs with Njampela FC on Sunday afternoon.
Njampela secured the national playoffs spot by defeating UMsinga United 1-0 after 120 tiresome minutes. The game ended 0-0 in regulation time.
The Motsoeneng-coached side is the second team to qualify for the national playoffs after Dondol Stars, who were crowned the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League champions a fortnight ago.
Motsoeneng is known for his lady luck on his side when it comes to winning titles in the ABC Motsepe League. This is no surprise when he’s flourishing nicely in the SA football third division, having helped Bizana Pondo Chiefs earn promotion to the National First Division during the 2020 ABC Motsepe national playoffs.
Other teams he made appearances with at the national playoffs are Zizwe United, Buffalo City Municipal [BCM], Sinenkani FC, and Tornado FC.
Given Motsoeneng’s extensive experience, the well-traveled mentor will be expected to guide the KZN club to the promised land at the upcoming national playoffs.
Meanwhile, in Limpopo province, the match between Winners Park and Mpheni Home Defenders was abandoned as the hosts [Winners Park] refused the second penalty awarded to the visitors [Mpheni] to be taken on Saturday.
According to reports, the first penalty was awarded in the first-half, but it was reversed as the Winners Park goalkeeper refused to go to the goalposts. The second penalty was also denied by the home side, which led to the match official abandoning the game at the 68th minute of the showdown.
SAFA Limpopo will make a final decision on a way forward following what transpired during this game.
