Khama Billiat sees red in Zimbabwe

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns forward, Khama Billiat, was shown a straight red card as Yadah Stars suffered a 0-1 loss to Herentals FC in a Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premiership fixture played today at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Godfrey Makambi’s 11th-minute strike from close range was enough for the Students to collect their second win of the campaign in nine attempts.

The Miracle Boys came to this match on the back of a 2-1 win over Chicken where Billiat netted twice to take his tally to three goals.

Billiat was dismissed after the restart after the referee, Thanks Nyaungwe, took exception to something he said.

WHY KHAMA BILLIAT WAS GIVEN MARCHING ORDERS

He was given marching orders for dissent reducing the visitors’ chances to salvage a point against the spirited Students.

The Students are owned by Innocent Benza, 52, who is also a legislator for Mutasa Central Constituency.

Benza was on the first XI for his side alongside his son, Tino, and he was replaced after the break.

Billiat was not amused with Nyaungwe’s call. He left the stadium soon after his dismissal together with his daughter who was in attendance.

Yadah coach, Thomas Ruzive, preferred not to comment on Billiat’s dismissal. However, he admitted that it reduced their chances of forcing a positive result.

“I cannot say much about Billiat’s red card because I can’t tell what really happened from where I was.

“It was a huge blow for us. Our boys got confused a bit and by the time they regained their focus, it was too late,” said Ruzive.

This setback leaves the Miracle Boys in the drop zone with 10 points. Billiat will miss the next game – a big clash against Harare giants Caps United in the capital.
