PSL confirms Nedbank Cup final kick-off time and ticket details
The PSL have confirmed the kick-off time and ticket details for the Nedbank Cup final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
The highly-anticipated final between the two SA football powerhouses will take place on June 1, 2024, at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
In addition, the Nedbank Cup encounter will see Pirates and Sundowns face each other for the second time in the final this season after clashing in the MTN8 finale in Durban. The Soweto giants won the MTN8 title at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, beating Sundowns 3-1 on penalties as the tie ended goalless in 120 minutes.
On their way to the Nedbank Cup final, the Buccaneers defeated two lower-division sides, Crystal Lake and Hungry Lions, as well as top-flight teams AmaZulu FC and Chippa United.
Meanwhile, Sundowns beat second-tier league three outfits NB La Masia, Maritzburg United, AmaTuks and DStv Premiership side Stellenbosch FC to set up a date with Pirates.
WHAT IS THE PSL UPDATE ON THE NEDBANK CUP FINAL BETWEEN SUNDOWNS AND PIRATES?
With the Soweto giants targeting their second domestic silverware of the season, PSL confirmed on Friday that the final will start at 15:00. In addition, the tickets have also been made available and will sell for R100 each.
“In just over 20 days, on the 1st of June 2024, football enthusiasts will converge at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga province for the eagerly anticipated Nedbank Cup final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates,” reads the PSL statement.
“Following a comprehensive safety and security risk assessment, and with the aim of ensuring convenient travel arrangements for spectators, the match has been scheduled to kick-off at 15h00 as opposed to the usual evening kick-off time.
“Tickets are now on sale at TicketPro outlets countrywide for only R100 each. With limited availability, fans are encouraged to secure their early to avoid disappointment. TicketPro outlets include Sasol, Engen, BP and Total garages.”
Meanwhile, the Brazilians beat Pirates 1-0 in the first round of the DStv Premiership in September last year at Orlando Stadium. The return fixture ended with a 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in February.
