Skudu Makudubela drops hint about Yanga future
As speculation intensifies surrounding his future at Young Africans, midfielder Mahlatse Makudubela has addressed the mounting interest from DStv Premiership clubs with his contract nearing expiration.
The skilful winger has attracted interest from some PSL clubs ahead of the June transfer window.
The 34-year-old has been in Timu ya Wananchi’s books since July 2023 when he joined on a free transfer.
That was after parting ways with Marumo Gallants following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The former Orlando Pirates winger was however impressive in Gallants’ inspiring run in the CAF Confederation Cup, after reaching the semi-finals.
Moreover, the stylish midfielder became a darling to the Yanga faithful despite receiving limited game time.
MAHLATSE MAKUDUBELA OPENS UP ABOUT HIS FUTURE AT YOUNG AFRICANS
Newly promoted side Magesi FC are understood to be keeping an eye on proceedings at Yanga, as they want his services.
With his Yanga contract ending at the end of June, ‘Skudu’ has opened up about what he is looking forward to.
“For now I’m still contracted to Young Africans. I will have to first see off my contract and also see if the management starts talks with me.
“I’m open to continuing at the club because it’s another opportunity for me to be in the CAF Champions League. It’s an opportunity to grow. Last time we did well and maybe next time it will be better.
“As a player, you want something that helps you grow. You also want something that makes your family happy.
“I’m happy here, we’ve achieved by winning the title and we are in the semi-finals of a cup tournament as well.
“There are a number of PSL clubs who have contacted my management but there is so much to consider. If there is a better offer, I’ll take it but there are so many things to consider for me,” Makudubela told FARPost.
In the DStv Premiership, Makudubela has turned out for Platinum Stars, Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.
