Mpheni book ticket to ABC Motsepe League national playoffs

Mpheni Home Defenders have been crowned the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League champions for the second time in a row following their 1-0 win over Tzaneen United at Oscar Mphetha Stadium over the weekend.

Lucky Buasi scored the only goal of the day in the 67th minute when ‘The Bulls’ defeated Tzaneen United in the provincial playoffs on Saturday, 18 May 2024.

Mpheni qualified for the provincial playoffs after finishing top of Stream A with 34 points from 17 outings. On the other hand, Tzaneen United were Stream B winners with 45 points after 18 games.

As a result, Mpheni have qualified for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League national playoffs for the second time in a row. Last season, the Limpopo side were eliminated in the semi-finals of the national playoffs.

SIX TEAMS CONFIRMED FOR ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE NATIONAL PLAYOFFS

Mpheni became the sixth team to qualify for the 2024 ABC Motsepe League national playoffs. The playoffs are set to be held in the Northern Cape next month.

The other five teams that have booked their spots at the upcoming national playoffs are Thames FC [North West], FN Rangers [Western Cape], Dondol Stars [Gauteng], Njampela FC [KwaZulu-Natal], and Kruger United [Mpumalanga].

Meanwhile, SAFA Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League playoffs were interdicted pending arbitration review.

The provincial playoffs between NC Professionals and Kimberly Saints were supposed to take place on Sunday, 19 May 2024. This comes after Jacksa Spears FC interdicted granted for review. The review date will be confirmed in due course.

The provincial playoffs were scheduled to take place at Britstown Sports Ground at 14:00.

TWO OTHER PROVINCES STILL UNDECIDED

With the drama continuing to unfold in the Northern Cape, there are still two other provinces still facing pending cases. The two provinces are the Free State and the Eastern Cape.
