Polokwane City’s stance on Appollis amid Chiefs and Pirates links

Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe has revealed the club’s stance on Oswin Appolis amid Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates links.

Appollis has drawn massive interest from DStv Premiership clubs of which the Soweto giants appear to be leading the chase.

The 22-year-old has dazzled opponents since Polokwane City marked their return to the top flight this season.

In 26 appearances across all competitions, Appollis has contributed six goals and five assists. But it is his flair with the ball that has given a glimpse of what he can offer in the long run.

He has been so impressive, so much so that he earned a place Hugo Broos‘ Bafana Bafana squad despite coming from a lowly ranked team.

As such, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are jostling to acquire the services of the exciting midfielder.

However, Polokwane City appears to have other plans for the midfielder whose stock continues to rise with each game. Head coach Mohafe revealed that they are giving priority to offers from abroad.

“You have to have constant with your players and with Appollis, there is no exception. He is so down-to-earth and level-headed.

“Whenever you talk to him on the sides, he understands and he is a boy that still wants to grow, he is on the right track.

“He is a national asset because of himself, he is a national asset because of Polokwane City, he is a national asset because of the team that he is coming from.

“I think the commitment that he has is the one that is driving him and the motivation that he wants to go elsewhere is the one driving him. Not going elsewhere around the country but abroad is what is driving him.

“I don’t know if he has an overseas offer yet but if the offer comes, it’s not going to be local. It has to be abroad,” said Mohafe.
