What’s next for Sundowns midfielder Luvuyo Phewa?

ProSport International CEO and agent Mike Makaab has revealed what the future holds for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Luvuyo Phewa.

Phewa is currently on a season-long loan at Cape Town Spurs Spurs after joining the club ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

The highly-rated attacker is in his second loan stint with CT Spurs. Last season, he was part of the CT Spurs team that gained promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

In the current campaign, Phewa has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Urban Warriors, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

The 24-year-old initially joined Sundowns from Royal Eagles [now known as Royal AM] in 2020. Since signing with Masandawana, the former SA junior international has gone on loan to clubs such as AmaTuks and Chippa United.

Meanwhile, Cape Town Spurs spent just one season in SA’s top-flight and have been relegated back to the NFD. They are sitting at the bottom of the log standings with 20 points in 29 matches played. Spurs won five matches in the league, drew five, and lost on 19 occasions.

WHAT’S THE LATEST ON SUNDOWNS MIDFIELDER AT SPURS?

With cT Spurs relegated to the second-tier league, Mike Makaab has disclosed that Phewa will return to his parent club at the end of the campaign.

The skilful midfielder, who can also play on both sides of the wings, will be looking to impress Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena and his technical team upon his return to Chloorkop.

“Luvuyo Phewa was on loan at Cape Town Spurs, and he will return to Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the season,” Makaab told FARPost.

Interestingly, Phewa will face tough competition in the attacking midfield position at the star-studded Sundowns.

The Brazilians have Themba Zwane, Thembinkosi Lorch, Neo Maema, Gaston Sirino, Matias Esquivel, Siyabonga Mabena, Tashreeq Matthews, Lebogang Maboe, Junior Mendieta, Lesiba Nku competing for the attacking midfield position.
