Baroka chairman’s promise to his players
With the PSL promotion playoffs set to begin this weekend, Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has made a promise to his players. On Sunday, Baroka will begin the playoffs against fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria.
This will also be the second time Baroka has participated in the playoffs after saving their status through the same competition in 2017.
Richards Bay is the third team to take part in the playoffs following the conclusion of the DStv Premiership this past weekend.
KHURISHI MPHAHLELE CONFIDENT OF A RETURN TO THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP
“The team is more than ready, the team is preparing. It’s all systems go,” Mphahlele told FARPost.
“The buses for the supporters are ready [to go to Pretoria]. We came from far and we found the University of Pretoria at the top. Now it’s the time for us to overtake them. They have been there and gone to many playoffs. This will be our second playoffs but we always succeed at the play-offs. So we are very confident.”
With regard to the venue, Mphahlele has also confirmed that they will continue to use the Global Village in Lebowakgomo for the playoffs.
“We are going to use the same venue because we don’t have any other venues. All our fixtures will eventually be at Global Stadium. We have been playing the whole season there with no issues. So why would there be an issue now? There won’t be an issue in the future, that’s our home.”
THE PROMISE BAROKA FC BOSS GAVE TO HIS PLAYERS AHEAD OF THE PSL PROMOTION PLAYOFFS
“We will be having a briefing with all the players on Thursday. They are already motivated, so I am not going to give them any motivation. I am going to give them assurance that they are going to have the DStv Premiership contracts if they win.”
