Vusumuzi Vilakazi expresses displeasure over Baroka home venue

Richards Bay FC coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has raised his concerns over the pitch conditions at Baroka Village after their PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs match on Saturday afternoon.

The DStv Premiership side were held to a 0-0 draw by Baroka but remain at the top of the mini-league. They have four points from the two matches, and another four points could guarantee their stay in the elite league.

“The pitch looks nice from far, but when you are inside, it’s something else,” he said. “You could see that with both teams there were a lot of turnovers because the field is not smooth.

WHY VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI WAS NOT IMPRESSED BY THE PITCH AT BAROKA VILLAGE?

“It didn’t suit our style of play or our image because we thought that today was going to be a different approach compared to the approach that we had against AmaTuks. But I am happy with the results.

“Obviously, we were looking for three points, but it was just not to be. I must accept the fact that the conditions were not suitable for us. We still need to fight and dig deep in terms of making sure that we win against AmaTuks,” he added.

IMPRESSIVE RICHARDS BAY SUPPORTERS WHO TRAVELED TO LIMPOPO TO CHEER UP THEIR TEAM

The ‘Natal Rich Boyz’ supporters came out in numbers in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo and matched the supporters of the home side. Vilakazi commended their 12th man, who travelled all the way from KwaZulu-Natal to rally behind the team.

“Very superb environment. I think it was 50/50 in terms of supporters. They have travelled the whole night to come and support the team, and we really appreciate it,” he said.

“It’s not just for now, but from the beginning of the season, even when I joined the team, I think the supporters were there rallying behind the team. Even when the team was not doing well. We owe it to them in terms of retaining the status of the club.”
