AmaTuks goalkeeper Edward Maova comments on SuperSport links

AmaTuks goalkeeper Edward Maova has commented on being linked with a move to DStv Premiership side SuperSport United ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Namibian international rejoined the University of Pretoria in July 2023 from Pretoria Callies, having been with the side during the 2018/19 season.

In the just-ended Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign, Maova managed to make 27 appearances for Tuks.

Maova was part of the Namibian squad at the 2023 AFCON tournament held in Ivory Coast in January this year.

Three weeks ago, this publication reported that the talented shot-stopper Maova is on the radar of two DStv Premiership clubs, Matsatsantsa being one of them.

In an interview with FARPost, the Namibian goal-minder stated that he is aware of the links but insists that nothing has materialised and he’s focused on helping his team gain promotion to the DStv Premiership.

“I have heard about it. But I can’t say much about it. My focus is now with my club, solely on the playoffs,” Maova told this website.

“When we are done with the playoffs, all the rumours will take care of itself. Currently, we have another game coming up and my focus is on that game because I’m contracted to the club.

MAOVA REFLECTS ON HIS PERFORMANCE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON

The goalie went on to reflect on his performance with AmaTuks throughout the season.

“We have been working hard throughout the season. My performance is the reflection of the hard work we have been putting in,” he added.

“I believe the good form I have shown throughout the season will help us in the playoffs.

“So, I believe that is possible to beat Richards Bay FC, that’s why I’m representing one of the biggest brands in Africa which is the University of Pretoria. We have worked hard to be where we are today.”

Tuks’ next assignment will be against Richards Bay at home in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs tie. The showdown will take place on Saturday, 15 June 2024. The kickoff is set for 15:00.
