AmaZulu FC set sights on SuperSport United midfielder
With the club aiming for a stronger showing next season, AmaZulu FC are in the market and have set sights on a SuperSport United midfielder.
The PSL transfer window opens in about two weeks following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
AmaZulu’s last season is one to forget, as they finished in a disappointing 11th place in the league standings. This marks their second consecutive underwhelming season, following a poor showing also in the 2022/23 campaign.
The club’s president Sandile Zungu had told this website earlier this year that, “There’s no question that probably we will be in the transfer market”.
The Durban-based outfit has already made its first signing ahead of the next season. They acquired the services of Senzo “Mbhobho” Ndlovu from the ABC Motsepe League side Sinenkani FC.
WHICH SUPERSPORT UNITED MIDFIELDER IS LINKED WITH AMAZULU?
According to FARPost sources, AmaZulu are looking to bring in Jesse Donn to reinforce their central midfield position.
The 25-year-old saw limited playing time last season, particularly in the league, making only four appearances. Overall, he featured in 11 matches across all competitions.
Donn was close to departing Matsatsantsa before the start of the last season when Stellenbosch FC had expressed interest in him. However, in what was a twist, he stayed put.
With Siphesihle Ndlovu and Grant Margeman regularly starting, his chances of getting game time are slim.
Donn came through the youth ranks of the Tshwane-based side having signed for the Swanky Boys from Ubuntu Cape Town in 2018.
Should the deal be completed, Donn would compete with the likes of Ben Motshwari and Ethan Brooks for the jersey at Usuthu.
AMAZULU’S EXITS SO FAR
AmaZulu have already parted company with three players – George Maluleka, Veluyeke Zulu and Augustine Kwem.
Maluleka’s departure necessitates the addition of another central midfielder.
