Haashim Domingo’s first words as a CT City player
Cape Town City FC’s new acquisition, Haashim Domingo, has spoken for the first time after making his return to the DStv Premiership.
Fresh off his official unveiling on Monday, June 17th, Domingo inked a three-year contract with CT City. This long-term commitment will see the talented midfielder ply his trade at the Citizens until June 2027, solidifying him as a key component of the team’s future.
The talented midfielder is well-versed in the SA top flight, having played for Ajax Cape Town [now called Cape Town Spurs] in 2014, now-defunct Bidvest Wits in 2018, and reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020.
The former Raja Casablanca player became the club’s second signing as they prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 season, which will start sometime in August 2024. Two weeks ago, the Capetonians announced the signing of Namibian international Prins Tjiueza.
WHAT HAASHIM DOMINGO SAID AFTER SIGNING FOR CT CITY
The 28-year-old says his strongest point is being a technical player. Therefore, he’s ready to help the club improve by scoring goals and providing assists as well.
“The biggest factor would be definitely the playing style, the identity of the club and also to be back in the Mother City,” said Domingo.
“What I would like to achieve is definitely to help the club and the team be successful. From a personal perspective, goals and assists, but for me, it’s all about the team. The type of player I am is definitely a technical player; that’s my strong point. I’m not a physical type, but definitely technical.
“The foundation, I would say, would be my faith, my family, just having the proper mindset, just keeping on going. I think it’s a lot driven by faith, having the correct faith that’s what keeps me going most of the time.
Domingo further sent a message to the club’s supporters, hoping they would come out in large numbers when the new season started to push the team.
“The message for the fans will definitely be that I’m extremely excited to play in front of them, and hopefully, they can come out in numbers and support us,” he added.
