Majdi Safi latest piece in Kaizer Chiefs’ coaching puzzle
Kaizer Chiefs’ pre-season preparations are in full swing, and the club’s ambitious revamp of its technical team continues with the arrival of Wydad Casablanca’s strength and conditioning coach, Majdi Safi.
This latest addition further solidifies the vision of incoming head coach Nasreddine Nabi. The AS FAR mentor is steadily assembling a team of experts to revitalise the Soweto giants.
Safi, renowned for his work at Moroccan giants Wydad and Raja Casablanca, brings a wealth of experience in optimising player performance and fitness. His arrival in Johannesburg follows that of first assistant Fernando da Cruz and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi. The two joined the team on Monday.
Safi was at Naturena on Tuesday with the team as the trio settles in at the DStv Premiership giants. While Nabi’s arrival is still pending due to contractual obligations with AS FAR, who recently secured a spot in the Moroccan Throne Cup final, the rest of his technical team is gradually assembling in Johannesburg.
Second assistant Khalil Ben Youssef will join the team alongside Nabi at a later stage. The final member of the technical team could be analyst Ayman Makroud.
WHAT MAJDI SAFI BRINGS TO KAIZER CHIEFS
The appointment of Safi underscores Chiefs’ commitment to a holistic approach to player development.
His expertise in strength and conditioning will be crucial in ensuring that the players are physically prepared to execute Nabi’s tactical vision on the pitch. His track record of success in Moroccan football, where fitness levels are notoriously high, makes him an ideal fit for the demanding South African league.
Chiefs’ supporters are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Nabi, who has a reputation for building winning teams and playing an attractive brand of football. With the technical team now almost complete, the focus shifts to the players. They will be expected to embrace the new coaching philosophy and deliver results on the field.
The coming weeks will be crucial as Amakhosi continue their preseason preparations. The club’s new technical team will be under pressure to quickly establish their systems and build chemistry with the players.
However, with a combination of experienced professionals and promising young talent, the Amakhosi faithful have reason to be optimistic about the future.
