Agent sheds light on Sifiso Hlanti’s Chiefs exit

Sifiso Hlanti’s agent, Sizwe Ntshangase, has shed light on the veteran left back’s Kaizer Chiefs exit earlier this week.

Amakhosi opted against retaining the services of Hlanti with his existing contract expiring on the 30th of June 2024. The left-back is leaving Chiefs alongside Siyethemba Sithebe, and Keagan Dolly who will also see their respective contracts expiring at the end of June.

Interestingly, Hlanti was a regular starter in the left-back position for Chiefs in the last DStv Premiership season. He featured in 24 matches across all competitions and scored one goal. In his three seasons with the Soweto giants, Hlanti played 62 games and registered four goals under his name.

His exit is part of the restructuring that is brought about by the incoming head coach Nasreddine Nabi. Chiefs welcomed a new assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz who is currently spearheading the Chiefs’ pre-season. He was joined by the strength and conditioning coach, Majdi Safi, and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi.

WHAT DID SIFISO HLANTI’S AGENT SAY ABOUT KAIZER CHIEFS?

Meanwhile, Hlanti’s representative Sizwe Ntshangase says Chiefs didn’t communicate enough to find an amicable solution for both parties.

“We did engage the club to try to find out where they are headed with Hlanti and what their thinking is, but we were not getting a direct response,” Ntshangase told Metro FM.

“The team told Hlanti that he served them well this season in the last week of the games, but they said they will have to wait for the incoming coach to come to assess him and make a decision. Chiefs didn’t engage with me about not renewing Hlanti’s contract but they met with him directly.

“They also said the new coach would assess Hlanti, but he didn’t even train and be seen by any member of the new technical team when Chiefs called him this week to say that his contract will not be renewed.”
