Pirates snap up Orbit College midfielder Thuso Moleleki

Orlando Pirates have snapped up Orbit College FC midfielder Thuso Moleleki as the Soweto giants continue to bolster their squad for the upcoming PSL season.

The gifted midfielder played a significant role in Orbit’s first season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after securing promotion to the SA second tier last campaign. He was also one of the players that the team retained after gaining promotion from the SA third division.

Moleleki helped the North West side finish ninth on the log standings with 39 points from 30 outings. The side managed to win 11 games, draw six, and lose 13 matches in the process.

Orbit started the just-ended Motsepe Foundation Championship season like a house on fire dominating the standings and looking like they would gain automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership, but only to sleep up in the second round of the season.

Last season, Moleleki, who is 24 years of age, managed to feature in 28 games [a total of 2334 minutes] for Orbit and contributed four goals.

Moleleki is expected to add value to the Pirates’ midfield options following the departure of Fortune Makaringe and Thabang Monare, who already joined Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United respectively. Moleleki is set to join the ‘Happy People’ on a permanent deal.

The midfielder will add to the list of Pirates’ recruits as the Soweto giants have already signed a goalkeeper Ethan Khel from NC Professionals who are competing in the Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League.

This morning, the Sea Robbers also confirmed the acquisition of attacker Delvi Miguel Vieira on a three-year deal.

Gilberto, as he is popularly known within the football circles, joined the Buccaneers following his two-year stint with Angolan Girabola champions Petro du Luanda.

To keep their midfield strong, Pirates made sure they extended Miguel Timm’s stay at the club as he signed a new contract until at least 2026.

Timm’s new contract has an option of a further season when his new one-year deal comes to an end.
