Siyethemba Sithebe joins Richards Bay after Kaizer Chiefs exit

Just days after his exit from Kaizer Chiefs, Siyethemba Sithebe has penned a deal with Richards Bay FC, FARPost has learnt.

Sithebe was one of five players released by Chiefs last week, along with Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Jasond Gonzalez, and Sifiso Hlanti. The 31-year-old footballer has made a swift move to the KZN team ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The length of Sithebe’s contract with Richards Bay remains undisclosed. The arrival of a seasoned midfielder is expected to bolster Richards Bay’s midfield options.

They recently lost their talisman, Sanele Barns, to Stellenbosch FC. Sithebe will provide a substantial uplift for the club as it seeks to strengthen its squad for upcoming challenges.

The Natal Rich Boyz finished last season in 15th place and had to play in the PSL promotional/relegation playoffs to retain their status.

After joining Kaizer Chiefs on a free transfer from AmaZulu in July 2022, Sithebe had difficulty securing a regular position on the team.

His departure from the club closes the curtain on his chapter with the Soweto giants, but now he sets off on a new adventure with the Natal Rich Boyz.

RICHARDS BAY MOVE MARKS A NEW CHAPTER IN SIYETHEMBA SITHEBE’S CAREER

The acquisition of Sithebe is a testament to Richards Bay’s ambition and commitment to building a competitive team. The club is eager to leverage his experience and talent to achieve their goals in domestic competitions.

Meanwhile, the Jomo Biyela-owned club recently extended Salim Magoola’s contract, ending speculation on the Ugandan goalkeeper’s future. Magoola had been linked to several clubs, including SuperSport United and Chippa United.

However, the club announced recently that he had penned a new three-year deal. The new contract keeps him at the club until June 2027. He will be hoping to contribute to the club’s improved performance in the upcoming season.
