Sammy Seabi on his way out of Sundowns on a loan move

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to send midfielder Sammy Seabi on another season-long loan spell ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Seabi struggled to break into the star-studded Sundowns team in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, featuring in four matches across all competitions. The central midfielder was used as a second-half substitute in all four games he played.

Seabi faced tough competition in the holding midfield position from players such as Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Rivaldo Coetzee, Sphelele Mkhulise, Sipho Mbule, Marcelo Allende and Bongani Zungu who has since left the club.

Before spending the previous campaign with Sundowns, Seabi was on loan at Sekhukhune United for the 2022/23 season.

The 29-year-old played 24 games in all competitions during his loan stint with Babina Noko, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Seabi signed for Sundowns in 2019 from Polokwane City during the tenure of coach Pitso Mosimane. Since his arrival, Seabi has had loan spells with Chippa United, Sekhukhune United and the now-defunct Moroka Swallows.

Having struggled to make a meaningful contribution in the Sundowns colours last season, Seabi’s agent Mike Makaab says his client is likely to go out on loan.

The Brazilians exercised the one-year option on Seabi’s contract after his initial contract expired on the 30th of June 2024.

“We’re still looking for options on Sammy Seabi’s future. Sundowns exercised the one-year option on his contract but he’s likely to go on loan,” Makaab told FARPost.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns have also parted ways with Bongani Zungu, Brian Onyango, Thabiso Kutumela, Gaston Sirino, Promise Mkhuma, and Junior Mendieta.

In addition, Downs snapped up Kobamelo Kodisang, Arthur de Oliveira Sales, and Kegan Johannes to bolster their team for the upcoming season.
