Sandile Zungu outlines AmaZulu FC ambitious goals for 2024/25 season

AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has outlined the club’s ambitious goals they have set for the 2024/25 season.

Zungu admitted that they were under par last season culminating in an 11th-place finish in the DStv Premiership [now Betway Premiership] with just 36 points from 30 league matches.

For the second time in a row, the Durban-based side couldn’t secure the top eight position and are therefore not partaking in the MTN8 this season.

Zungu has promised the Usuthu faithful that they’re determined to bounce back as they aim to win silverware and qualify to play continental competitions in the 2025/26 campaign.

Further, he believes they have what it takes to win the Betway Premiership.

“I can promise our fans that this upcoming 2024/25 season, we are determined to bring the trophy home,” said Zungu.

“This is a season that we want to finish in top four. It’s a season that we want to qualify for the CAF competitions, whether it’s CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup.

“This means we have to be in the top three or number two. If it’s possible that we can win the league, we’ll take that opportunity.

“I feel we have players and coaches that are capable of winning us the 2024/25 league title.”

Usuthu took part in the KZN Premier’s Cup where they knocked out Golden Arrows in the quarterfinals after coming out victorious 2-1.

They went on to lose 3-0 at the hands of Royal AM in the semifinal.

AmaZulu have strengthened their squad with several new signings: Kwanda Mngonyama, Luvuyo Phewa, Etiosa Ighodaro, Boniface Haba, Senzo Ndlovu, Leonardo Roy, and Thato Matli.

The club also appointed Aubrey Vilakazi as the new goalkeeper coach, replacing Wayne Sandilands. Vilakazi previously worked with the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team.
