Marumo Gallants let go of ex-Swallows defender Sipho Sibiya

Marumo Gallants have let go of former Moroka Swallows defender Sipho Sibiya as they’re cutting down their huge squad ahead of the new season.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, who competed in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, acquired top-flight status from Moroka Swallows during the off-season.

The club merged a portion of its existing squad with selected players from Swallows, resulting in a pre-season training squad of approximately 40 players, including trialists.

Gallants first appointed Dylan Kerr who was in charge of preparations for two weeks before he parted ways with the club before the season began.

The Gallants have proceeded to appoint Dan Malesela who’s now trimming the squad for the next campaign.

FARPost has learnt that Sibiya is among some of the players who have been shown the exit door by the club.

The 33-year-old central defender was a member of the squad that moved to Swallows when the club acquired its second-tier status from Maccabi FC in 2018.

During the club’s tenure in the top division, he participated in 44 matches across all competitions, netting one goal in the process.

It is understood the club has yet to make decisions on several trialists that are still being assessed following significant changes in the technical team.
