Vilakazi recently made headlines after he cut ties with ‘The Natal Rich Boyz’ on a mutual agreement earlier this month.

This came after the ex-Golden Arrows mentor signed a new deal with Richards Bay FC as he successfully saved the club from relegation when he won the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

Following Vilakazi’s departure from Bay, he expressed his delight at having helped the team save their top-flight status.

“It was my first time being under pressure of trying to help the team survive relegation. I think I played my part even though the impact was little. It’s fine because I was in the set-up. So, I must just appreciate that because it’s the experience I will always cherish, as a young coach, and being able to help the team survive relegation,” said Vilakazi on Metro FM a week ago.

Vilakazi had joined Bay in November last year, taking over the coaching reins from Kaitano Tembo, who has just returned to the PSL as Sekhukhune United’s senior coach.

‘Kanu’ left the Natal Rich Boyz following the arrival of new title sponsor Phakwe Gas, who wanted an experienced coach, and Bay opted to rope in Brandon Truter as the club’s new head coach.
