Kagisho Dikgacoi set for Arrows return after cutting ties with Phezulu FC

Former Bafana Bafana international Kagisho Dikgacoi has cut ties with Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Phezulu FC and is poised to rejoin Golden Arrows.

Dikgacoi joined amateur side Phezulu FC on Monday, August 26, ahead of the 2024/25 ABC Motsepe League season.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the former Fulham FC and Crystal Palace midfielder has left the SA third football tier club just four days after signing a deal with them.

WHY KAGISHO DIKGACOI LEFT PHEZULU FC

Dikgacoi has left Phezulu as he is set to join ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ as a co-coach for the new campaign.

Before joining the Mpumalanga-based outfit, Dikgacoi was in the books of another ABC Motsepe League side, Mangaung Unite, from the Free State province.

The 39-year-old played an important role in helping Mangaung qualify for the SAFA’s ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Upington in July. However, the club couldn’t secure a promotion to the PSL in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Arrows lost their head coach, Steve Komphela, who has reunited with Mamelodi Sundowns for the new campaign. Therefore, Komphela’s departure left a void within the KZN club’s technical team.

Since Komphela’s departure, Mabhuti Khanyeza has taken the reins as head coach at the club. Arrows are set to receive a significant boost with the addition of retired footballer Dikgacoi to help Khanyeza. Dikgacoi brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent five years playing for English clubs like Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Cardiff City FC.

PHEZULU FC’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT

“Coach Kagisho Dikgacoi, who had recently joined us as co-coach, has departed from Phezulu FC,” stated the club.

“This is in light of his move to join Lamontville Golden Arrows FC on the co-coach mission. This is an amicable separation as they need him more than us. We wish him well.”
